Seasonings
I'm all about seasonings, spices, etc. Seasonings are the TRUE spice of life. ;) If all you have in your house is butter, a loaf of bread and some cinnamon, you have a small meal. When I first moved off to school, all I had was black pepper and sugar packets. Never really used the sugar but I valued the pepper as if it were French truffles. Decadent, it made most of my meals (potatoes or soup) into strangely exotic dishes. There is practically no end to the unusual foods these powdered (or otherwise) masters of flavor can take on.
Lettuce, while virtually flavorless on its own, tastes great sprinkled with lemon pepper, or for that matter, most any spice. Same goes with celary or white bread. Hot sauce goes especially well with bread, splash some on and fold the bread over like a mini sandwich. Feel the burn and be nurished by the vitamin C.
You can even use them to make tea. Many times I've steeped myself some Spearmint and Cayanne tea. Don't add too much cayanne, this tea is supposed to have a delicate flavor. To season it to taste, add a dash of salt. Best part is, it contains no caffeine, unlike commercial teas.
Even things not exactly concidered seasoning can kick up a meal. Rice, pasta, or potatoes taste great with some smashed up chips sprinked on them. Or, melt some peanut butter, add several dashes of chili/curry powder, maybe some soy sauce, and boom! You have a mock-asian sauce to pour over noodles or rice.
Whew... I may have to just do this bi monthly.... yea
